Committee Against Antisemitism

 

The mission of the Committee Against Antisemitism (CAA) of the Champaign Urbana Jewish Federation (CUJF) is to proactively counter antisemitism in the Champaign-Urbana community by working to prevent, identify and respond to misperceptions about and expression of hatred toward the Jewish people. It accepts the IHRA working definition of antisemitism in all decision making.

Antisemitism has increased significantly since October 7, 2023. If you have information about any potentially antisemitic incidents, threats, or suspicious activity in our local community, please complete the form below to report your findings to the Secure Community Network.

The Secure Community Network® (SCN®) is the official safety and security organization of the Jewish community in North America. It serves as the Jewish community’s official liaison with federal law enforcement and coordinates closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners on safety and security matters related to the Jewish community.

CUJF Actions Against Antisemitism

Lecture by Professor Cary Nelson
 

On March 26, 2026, Dr. Cary Nelson, UIUC Professor Emeritus and Jubilee Professor of Liberal Arts and Sciences, gave a talk about antisemitism at American universities. Professor Nelson has written or edited thirty-nine books on topics which include modern American poetry, antisemitism, and the politics of higher education. His newest book, "College Zionists Confront the Abyss,” about reactions to October 7, will be published this summer, and formed the basis of this talk. Refreshments were provided. Prof. Nelson's talk was followed by a lively Q&A.
