Reflections of an Israeli Journalist on the Ground

Journalist Judy Maltz arriced int he United States just weeks before Oct. 7th, excited to start her new position as Haaretz correspondent in New York responsible for our coverage of Jewish life in America. Never would she have imagined that thsi would become one of the most tumultuous years in the Jewish-American histoyr. Covering the biggest story of the past year Judy Maltz has been at protests on college campuses and on the streets of New York, she has reported on growing incidents on antisemitism in the country, and she has observed how the issue of Israel is pitting Jews against Jews in America. In this talk, Judy Maltz shares some of her takeaways from an intensive year of writing about the repercussions of OCt. 7 on Jewish-Americans for one of Israel's leading newspapers - as well as her reflections on what Americans dont get about Israel and vice versa. 

 

Judy Maltz is a senior correspondent for the Israeli nespaper Haaretz, where she has been employed for the better part of the past three decades. An award-winning journalist and filmmaker, Maltz was one of the founding editors of the Haaretz English edition. Prior to joining Haaretz, she worked as a reporter for The Jerusalem Post and as an assistant to the Middle East bereau cheif of the Financial Times.
